Who’s Getting Played? CoD: BOps
>By Chris West
So what game am I playing right now? The latest installment of the Call of Duty series, Black Ops.
This latest episode of the extremely popular series looks just like one of the bunch on first glance. I am here to tell you that this is not the case. I’ve been playing Call of Duty since number one, and this one is definitely my favorite. Why? Glad you asked.
This is one of my favorite features of the new game. This, in a way, makes this game completely timeless. Combat training is a way to play the regular multiplayer that one normally experiences, but against bots instead of people. This is a great way to practice your skills, try out new weapons, get better at aiming, or try out the new killstreaks. Anything you want, without the worry of messing up your K/D or actually having to face real opponents. None of these things make it my favorite, however. This is a great feature because you will be able to play the multiplayer for black ops forever. Even if you pop in the game 15 years from now, you will still get the full multiplayer experience, regardless of servers of players.
Modern Warfare 2 introduced a new way to show off your personality or accomplishments with the ability to have titles and emblems. Black Ops takes it a step further with almost full customization. Check this out to see what I mean.
A lot of single player games leave me unfulfilled. The latest CoD doesn’t seem to have a problem in this area. I still haven’t beaten the single player yet, and so far I am pleased. There is plenty of story line, and unlike some games, I never lose track of what I’m doing or what my mission is. There are also plenty of levels to play, and I feel like playtime has already crossed a point at which I can be happy.
Ever had a really good match and wish you could replay it, or show it to friends? Well now you can. Relive your recent matches as many times as you want. Cut, paste, snap, change view, snip, upload, and brag!
A Slew of Other Cool Features
Some other things I like:
–Non stacking killstreaks (only weapon kills earn killstreaks)
–The Return of DOGS!!!
–Combat Record (view yours or anyone else’s playercard to see K/D, gun stats, and much more)
-Great new weapons
-New Zombies campaign
-New equipment items such as camera spikes
-Character customization (load-out changes your appearance, as well as face paint)
-Gun customization (camo, custom sites and reticules, and more is available to make your gun your own)
-Tomahawks, ballistic knives, and crossbows!
-and of course, MUCH MORE.
So in conclusion, I am pretty satisfied with my current game, and recommend it to anyone who likes FPS’s or is open to try one. Hopefully this can become something that can be a bit of a series. I’m a pretty avid gamer and get the chance to try out all sorts of games. As time goes on I will get a capture card, maybe take some screenshots and videos, and get a little more in depth. But for now, this is what you get!
If you have a game you’d like me to check out and post as my “Who’s Getting Played?” article, send me a message! I’d be glad to help!
